What size frame for an 11 × 14 print?

For direct framing, start with a frame sold for an 11 × 14 inch artwork and verify its actual dimensions. To add a mat, choose a larger board and calculate its opening separately.

Why are the borders unequal?
11 × 14 and 16 × 20 do not differ by the same amount in both directions. A centered window therefore has different horizontal and vertical borders. Equal-width borders require a different custom outer size.
Check what “11 × 14” refers to
If the image is 11 × 14 but printed on a larger sheet, the full sheet controls the physical fit. If the frame includes a mat “for 11 × 14,” ask for its exact window size rather than assuming the opening measures 11 × 14.
